Hip and Knee Pain

Like with shoulder and arm pain, a proper orthopedic and neurological assessment can be integral in identifying the cause of your knee or hip pain. In many cases, knee pain can even be traced back to the hip as a significant cause. For example, in IT-band syndrome hip weakness is often a major contributor to pain and hip strengthening a major help to treatment.

Common causes of hip and knee pain:

  • Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS)

  • Patellar tendinopathy

  • Hip flexor tendinopathy

  • Iliotibial (IT) band syndrome

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Labral, or meniscal tears

  • Sprains and strains

  • Nerve entrapments

  • Piriformis syndrome

  • Gluteal tendinopathy

  • Referral from low back conditions
